Foxx Report

In an appalling move that ignores the possibility of life-saving care being given to children born after a failed abortion, Senate Democrats blocked the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act on Tuesday. This comes after repeated efforts by myself and my colleagues to debate this legislation on the House floor. Over 80 times, House Democrats suppressed our request for debate.

Do not be deceived by obscure claims from Democrats, this legislation is not partisan. At its core, this legislation ensures that babies who are born alive after failed abortion attempts have access to life-saving care that they deserve. With so much procedural maneuvering by House and Senate Democrats, you begin to wonder why they consistently appease the interests of party extremists rather than delivering on the priorities of our country.

Rest assured, I will never yield in our pursuit of protecting and preserving the sanctity of life. The unborn deserve steadfast advocates that will fight for their right to life.

Women's Suffrage

This year marks a pivotal time in our nation’s history: the 100th anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment. A century ago, women across the United States held rallies, picketed in the streets, and were arrested for standing up for their right to vote.

This Wednesday, the House passed H.R. 473, a piece of legislation that establishes a commemorative women’s suffrage monument in our nation’s capital. Depicted in the sculpture are Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Harriot Stanton Blatch, Sojourner Truth, Alice Paul, and Ida B. Wells

National Future Farmers of America Week

On Wednesday, I spoke on the House floor about National Future Farmers of America Week. I’m proud to represent over 7,000 farms – and over 11,000 agricultural producers – in the 5th District. Collectively, they generate over $1 billion every year and represent almost 10% of North Carolina’s agriculture sales. Without question, the hardworking men and women in the field of agriculture serve as the backbone of our nation. To view my remarks, click here.

Next Week

The House will return next week to debate H.R. 1140, legislation that would expand collective bargaining rights for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees.  The TSA was created by Congress with unique authorities to ensure the agency can carry out its national security mission. I have submitted multiple amendments to limit the detrimental effects of this bill and ensure that this expansion of rights comes with added responsibility and accountability.

Sincerely,
