Foxx Report for the Week of February 12, 2018

While much of what Congress does week after week does not get headlines, every day we are in session in the Capitol we are passing legislation the goal of which is to affect our constituents positively. Also, in addition to voting, I met with many constituents and others who have concerns about legislation. This week among others, I was pleased to meet with the Yadkin County Farm Bureau, Habitat for Humanity International and Highland Industries of Kernersville.

This week millions of Americans celebrated Valentine’s Day. While I was working for 5th District residents here in Washington, I wished my husband of more than 50 years, Tom, a Happy Valentine’s Day. Watch here:

A special interest’s sweet deal

In November, I introduced H.R. 4265, the Sugar Policy Modernization Act. This bipartisan bill will drastically reform the U.S. government’s sugar program, which forces American taxpayers and small businesses to subsidize a handful of sugar processors to the tune of $2.4-$4 billion annually. Hardworking Americans shouldn’t be stuck with the tab for the Big Sugar lobby’s order. My colleague Rep. Danny Davis (D-IL) and I co-authored an opinion editorial about this important legislation. A lifetime of service

Mr. Lewis Wood of Stokes County has served the Boy Scouts of America and the wider Stokes County community for more than 75 years. I commend Mr. Wood for his service and his admirable spirit. Watch here:

What’s Coming Up Next?

Next week, the House is not in session. I will be traveling the 5th District and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
