Foxx Report

When it comes to the November jobs report, or any jobs report this year for that matter, the phrase, “Don’t take any wooden nickels,” comes to mind. Why? When you compare President Biden’s own words to the sobering statistics, there’s a clear disconnect. Last Friday, he remarked at a press conference that, “America is back to work and our jobs recovery is going very strong”. The numbers say otherwise. Out of a projected 573,000 new jobs, only 210,000 were added to the economy – another dismal result in a string of underperforming jobs reports throughout the year.

Another piece of this story involves how many jobs were lost during the month of November. Motor vehicles and parts manufacturing lost 10,000 jobs. General merchandise stores lost 20,000 jobs. Clothing and clothing accessories stores lost 18,000 jobs. Sporting goods, hobby, book and music stores lost 9,000 jobs as well. If America is back to work as the President claims, where’s the proof? It certainly isn’t in the pudding.

The floundering jobs report wasn’t lost on members of the mainstream media – some of whom regularly sing the President’s praises. Here are just a few headlines:

CNBC: “Job growth disappoints in November with a gain of just 210,000, despite high hopes”

Fox Business: “US hiring stumbles in November as economy adds just 210,000 jobs”

NPR: “November jobs report is a bust with only 210,000 jobs added”

Politico: “U.S. employers added a sluggish 210,000 jobs in November”

When you combine out-of-control government spending on the part of Washington Democrats and more unnecessary incentives to discourage people from working, this is the result you can expect. I believe that America deserves much better than these meager results, and I will continue to fight against the failed policies that got us to this point.

Parents Bill of Rights

Across this great country, there has been a push by the far left to silence parents who are fighting to improve their child’s education. From powerful teachers’ unions to the Justice Department, there has been staunch opposition to the rights of parents to have a say in their child’s education. That’s why I’m helping lead the charge in introducing the Parents Bill of Rights in the People’s House. It’s time to usher in a new era of education – one where parents do not take a back seat to the system. One thing is certain, our children and the country will be better off for having the Parents Bill of Rights.”

Protecting Student Safety

The Department of Education’s recent proposal of halting the collection of essential information to protect the safety of students in public elementary and secondary schools is downright irresponsible. Without question, parents deserve to know if administrators and local officials are ignoring allegations of sexual assault by staff against students. The only way for parents to get this information is if school districts are required to report it. Transparency and accountability must never be forsaken.

Recently, Congressman Burgess Owens (R-UT) and Congressman Russ Fulcher (R-ID) joined me in sending a letter to Department of Education Secretary Miguel Cardona requesting all documents and data pertaining to the Biden administration’s decision to remove data reporting requirements regarding sexual assault allegations against school staff. Simply put, this proposed action by the Department continues the Biden administration’s troubling trend of undermining parental rights in education.
